Where we live life

In the words of Cribs, "This is where the magic happens." three of us sleep.

When we moved in to our house and started remodeling, this was the first room finished. When I was put on bedrest, it was the only room finished. I spent 5 whole weeks looking at these gray walls. I thought I would never come back in here after I had CK, but now, it's almost as much of a "living room" as our living room! (pictures of that coming later this week!)
In this room, we repainted, recarpeted, and redid the ceiling with beadboard.

Sidenote: I LOVE gray. The entire inside of my house is painted in shades of gray.

We live in an old house (built in 1926), so the rooms are HUGE. We put our entertainment center that was in our living room at our last house in our bedroom because there was so much extra space.

Here is my FAVORITE pillow and lovely Target bedding. I'm fairly certain Target is one of the greatest places in the world.

And this is my bedside table. I didn't take a picture of Jared's because there really isn't anything over there. That super cute swim locker is holding all CK's essentials - diapers, wipes, and her all time fave, "wo-tion;" you gotta have these things handy when she sleeps in your bed.

And now to the work station. Work as in pay bills, blog, edit pictures. You already saw the other work station in all its disarray glory.

Here's my non- computerized pinterest
Super excited to be able to hang all my magazine/catalog finds up where they won't get torn or wrinkled, so that one day when I have time, or money, or a different house I can make them.

I used the old picture frames from CK's birthday party and some decorated up clothes pins.

And here is one of my favorite presents so far - a handprint picture C made me at school for Mother's Day. Until I got one, I used to think the handprint thing was super corny, now I know why mothers all over the world proudly have them on display.

Check back later for more of the tour!

green with envy

If you have a weird different sense of style get ready to be jealous. I bought this little beauty at Goodwill-

$7.99

please excuse the terrible picture as I took this photo in the middle of the night. I just couldn't wait to show her off.

And I have big plans for her.
That mostly include getting rid of the nasty stain on the seat.

Apparently she was once a member of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and after her brief and I'm sure disheartening stint at Goodwill, she'll now be brought back to her former glory, as my new desk chair. Or maybe even a living room chair. Check out that color combo. While it may scream "I love the 70s" with it's chartreuse, mustard, and avocado, I think it's perfect.

My dream house

In the spirit of moving to a new more than likely previously owned home, here is my wishlist:

1. MUST HAVE DISHWASHER

This is my life with a dishwasher, can you just even imagine the disaster if I didn't have one?

2. Outdoor Kitchen/entertaining area

I'm not much for the outdoors when it is all of 124 degrees, or even the 100 that it has been here for THE LAST 30 DAYS IN A ROW, but I do <3 outdoor entertaining areas. Ahhh... to have some sweet furniture to sit in while under a fan OUTSIDE watching the Rangers. If I can get a TV out there I think Jared would agree to this.

And these would be fab hanging from the huge tree I know will be in my future backyard.

And I'll probably need this for my outside dishes...

3. A craft/work room would be nice. Right now all my "junk" is shoved in the guest room, and I pull it out and bring it into the living room to work on it. My husband hates secretely loves this.

There are parts (take this term loosely, as in one room is clean, 7 are not) of my house that are clean, just not the ones I am showcasing today.

4.  lots of beadboard!! and some subway tiles, which I'm sure will be the equivalent of chartreuse shag carpet soon, but I love it anyway!

That's all I can think of for now... I'm sure when we're actually shopping for a new house I will be wayyy more particular.

Oh yeah, look at what my sweet hubby did this morning for me before he went to work!!! I should have these things for sale in my shop, but I haven't taken pictures of them yet, and now they've made it inside - guess they're mine!

I'm going to plant something in that pail and it WILL live, there's no way it can die UNDER the water faucet if I let it drip, can it? Haven't had a chance to decorate it up yet, but I love it!

Ohhhh, organization, you are not my friend. But I do like the basket you've disguised yourself as!

For sale!

The sign is officially sledgehammered into the dirt that once was grass. We're moving (again) and probably will several more times. I never want to move. Our last house was our first house, and it was perfect. Then we found this one, and it's Charlee's first home. But so much for being nostalgic!

Since moving day is hopefully coming up soon, I figured I'd give you the grand tour, starting with my favorite room - CK's. She rarely goes in here, except to put on clothes or grab one of bazillion toys she has, but she does know it is her room. She'll let you know, too.
One of her new things is to tell us what belongs to Charlee by yelling "Charlee's" at us. Nice.

Some things you should know before the home tour begins is that I am not so great at finishing things. Or deciding where to put things. My house is perpetually undone. And since I know within a couple of years we'll be packing up again, my motivation is not so great.
Also, I'm not a good housekeeper.
And I don't have many things that match or go together, or a style really, so... be prepared.

No offense, but I'm not a huge pink fan. And anyone who has shopped for girl nursery stuff lately knows EVERYTHING is pink. I decided to go a different route.

I'll do better next time with my signage...
My mom made the bedding out of two shams we found on sale at Crate and Barrel Outlet - I think it cost about $15!! I was proud, and it's one of a kind! You can't tell but it's quilted, and still white since she has never ever slept on it in her life!
The banner across her bed was made by our good friend and ex-neighbor. She's super crafty and has great style. You can check her blog out here to hear about her family's adventures! (And she has had a great giveaway and many more coming, so watch for those!)
The rug is from Target.
I'm not sure there is a specific genre you would call her room - I was going for antique/vintage/anthropologie....hmmmm...

The couch was my Christmas present from Jared right before CK got here. It was from Charlie's house. He bought it for me after we had agreed not to spend any money on Christmas that year. I bought him a Wii... oops!
Charlee's dresser was a craigslist find that my mother-in-law picked up and painted for me while I was on bedrest. I highly recommend finishing your kid's nursery WAY early. I thought I had time, then I wasn't allowed to leave my room - ugh. Luckily I had lots of help!

The anthrolpologie flashcards are my favorite. I dreamt about them forever, then my cousin got them for Charlee.

There are a few more adorable/special things in her room that aren't super clear in pictures. My grandmother gave me 3 pictures from Germany her aunt got for her, and she lent me a super awesome antique rocker.

There are still some empty picture frames and spots on the wall I have plans for, but probably won't get done before we move. Ah well!

On another note
The way I got my lovely little necklace (and one for my CK):
While checking out littlemissmomma's blog (<3 her too) I found this awesome post about an awesome necklace. My hubby and I had already decided to start a tradition with CK and get her jewelry every year for her birthday, and this.was.perfect. As we were looking at what they had to offer I said, "I want this one!" After the fact I learned he was assuming it was for Charlee, he answered, "Me too." So I ordered it. And about a week later as I was raving over how I couldn't wait to get MY necklace in, he looked at me funny. The necklace "discussion" began... (I think you know what "discussions" are...)

Anyway, this year I picked out my own Valentine's gift, which I was totally OK with.
